Nidra with Nichole:
A Guided Meditation to Ease Holiday Stress and Fatigue
Yoga Nidra is one of the most nourishing practices you can do for yourself. It is a guided meditation that is profoundly healing. One of my teachers, Marc Halpern, describes nidra as a way to create your life through healing your conscious. It is a very powerful practice!
Richard Miller founder of iRest Yoga Nidra, sums it up the best, “Yoga Nidra induces deep relaxation throughout the body and mind, eliminates stress, overcomes insomnia, solves personal and interpersonal problems, resolves trauma, and to neutralize and overcome anxiety, fear, anger, and depression. It is the perfect practice to do when you are tired, anxious, stressed, and overwhelmed.” Sounds pretty amazing!!
Before you get started, get your yoga nidra nest ready. Have a comfortable place to lay down or sit. Ideally this practice is done with the eyes closed and your body completely at ease. You might like laying in corpse pose, laying on your side or sitting up. I encourage you to allow yourself just to be comfy, in whatever way that is for your body. Your body temperature might drop so have a blanket handy. Attempt to be in a space that is free of distraction.
I have included my heart centered yoga nidra practice, this nidra is to specifically increase positive heart emotions like love, compassion, peace and forgiveness.
